    Cos I bloody love Yorkshire

All eyes were on Yorkshire again last weekend as the Tour de Yorkshire came back for a third time showcasing the very best cyclists and of course the very best county <3 I therefore thought I’d share with you two of my favourite places to go in Yorkshire that I visited the same weekend. A legacy from the Tour de France in 2014, the Tour de Yorkshire is a three day cycling stage race organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation who are the brains behind the Tour de France – you might have heard of it…. Last year I had the pleasure of watching the race…

    My first 50 miles

Last weekend me and Matt went on a group social ride with our fellow cycling mad friends Isobel and Christopher who I like to refer too as #teamcycling obvs. I covered my longest distance yet WOOHOO so I thought I’d mark the occasion and celebrate cycling my first 50 miles by telling you all a little bit about it ūüôā We set off early in the morning as I had to run an errand for work on the way so we were out of the house for 7am and we definitely saw some people just on their way home from a night out (mannn I felt old). Matt set the…

    A day in the Dales

Both Matt and I had the week off last week and with a new car we thought we’d take advantage of the rare glorious weather and venture further afield than Ilkley¬†with a trip to Burnsall, North Yorkshire in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. My idea was to have a leisurely stroll and take in the stunning scenery, Matt’s idea however was for me to get some much needed practice in and “get a bloody move on”. After I threw a bit of a strop a 1/4 of a way in I like to think we met a mutual understanding at the tea shop – right Matt? The ride was shorter…

    Yorkshire Day at Ingleton Waterfall

Happy Yorkshire Day!¬†The day where we get to celebrate the best county in the United Kingdom – obviously. Luckily this beautiful day also happened to fall on a team away day at work so we got to spend the day in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales at the Ingleton Waterfall trail. Situated in North Yorkshire in the small village of Ingleton the 8km route takes walkers around the banks of the River Twiss and past some spectacular waterfalls such as Pecca Falls and Thornton Force. My geography degree was put to test whilst walking around! We were very lucky with the weather and made the most of the sun with a…

    Mountain Biking

The other weekend I went mountain biking for the first time in about 12 years and I bloody loved it! I hadn’t been mountain biking since a school camping trip to the Lake District in year 8 but my friends from work had been mentioning it for a while and a free weekend came up so I thought oh why not let’s give it a try and I’m so happy I did…. My friend from work is a keen mountain biker and had a few spare bikes so luckily I was able to borrow one for the day. The major differences I felt on the bike at first were :…

    ITU World Triathlon Series 2016

At the weekend Leeds once again took centre stage for another great sporting event, this time –¬†the ITU World Triathlon Series. The series features the¬†world’s best triathletes ¬†rounds i¬†all over the world including¬†Cape Town, Stockholm and Abu Dhabi competing for points to qualify to the Olympics. Leeds the best city in the north was lucky enough to be chosen to host the UK based series and it’s safe to say the whole city came out in full force to support! Despite the typical British weather….   We had a great view of all the action in the city centre where we saw both the men and women complete 7 laps…

    Oh hello sun

We’re allowed to say it’s summer now right? Last¬†weekend was absolutely beautiful so me and Matt decided to take advantage of the glorious sunshine and take¬†the¬†scenic route full of country lanes, green fields and of course sheep!¬†I unusually started cycling in winter so have only been used to gloves and base layers so whilst I didn’t think it when on hills the sunshine was a welcome delight. As I’m still pretty¬†new to cycling my kit is fairly basic so in optimistic preparation a few weeks ago I bought some simple summer additions for my wardrobe which I was very thankful for at the weekend. Sunglasses An absolute must when it’s…
