    Tour of Flanders 2016

At the beginning of the month Matt and I visited Belgium exploring the beautiful cities of Bruges, Ghent and Brussels. Now I’ve recently learnt that the only way to get Matt on holiday is through cycling (who knew?) so on Sunday 3rd April we enjoyed the sun, drank beer and cheered on the cyclists at the famous Tour of Flanders otherwise known as Ronde Van Vlaanderen and it was AWESOME. The one day road cycling race tests the ability of world class cyclists both male and female on a route famous for it’s steep hills and cobbles. If you’d like to find out more about the race you can read my guide for…

    Bike Ride Prep

So this post is inspired by one absolutely epic fail.Let’s rewind to a few weeks ago when me and Matt set off for another Saturday morning bike ride…. I was super excited to get back out on the roads and really wanted to prove to myself that this was a new hobby I could seriously kick ass at. Unfortunately my body was having none of that! I felt terrible. I was thirsty, I was cold, I felt sick and my legs did not have the energy to pedal never mind drive me up the hills of Yorkshire. After probably not even 1/4 of the way to our destination I bailed and to be honest…

    Winter Warmers

Winter obviously isn’t the best season to begin cycling in the UK. It’s cold, it’s wet and it’s windy. The good thing is though  -winter is the correct season for January sales so I took advantage of some Christmas money and spent a few hours browsing wiggle for some key winter basics to keep me warm and safe from the elements(or as much as I could be). If you haven’t heard of wiggle.com they have your cycling, running, swimming and outdoor needs all under one roof and the best thing? You get a packet of free Haribo in your parcel. WIN. As I had absolutely no cycling gear the first…

    Meet Livi

So some people name their first car, I name my bike.  Let me introduce you to Livi – and I promise this won’t be technical. Livi is a Giant Avail 3 (2015) compact road bike from Liv Cycling, a brand devoted to women in cycling. In addition to providing women with tailored bikes and cycling gear, their brand is all about making cycling more approachable and appealing to women. They “believe that women can discover the possibilities within themselves through cycling” a statement I very much agree with! Livi was a present for Christmas, birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s and every other occasion imaginable from my boyfriend Matt.  Luckily, although winter isn’t the…

    Learning to believe in myself

At the beginning of the week when Matt suggested we cycle to Otley and back (a 40km round trip) I replied with a nervous “yes”. As soon as that was said I began to worry. I felt uneasy on my first bike ride (which you can read about here) and that was a short 13km stroll down the canal. Whilst I had conquered my fear of cycling on the roads for a very short time in our bike ride before Christmas I obviously still wasn’t 100% confident. I  was still unsure of gears and in all honesty I had doubts that I could even cycle there never mind there and back.…

    5 First Ride Revelations

The Story… Monday 21st December was mine and Matt’s fake Christmas which basically was an excuse to open presents early! Though my present wasn’t a surprise,  after me jokingly telling Matt I expected the bike wrapped up with a huge bow, this actually happened. I basically ruined Matt’s 2 hours of hard work in 2 minutes and not too long later we were getting changed into our cycling gear. I say cycling gear but I wasn’t as prepared as Matt yet and ended up going out in my gym wear and in an attempt to keep warm – a bobble hat. Although I definitely lied and told my mum I…
