Spring additions to my cycling wardrobe

I love Spring. The daffodils, light evenings and being able to walk out of the house without a wooly hat and scarf.  As I transitioned from my winter coat to trench coat I also transitioned from my cycling long bibs to HELLO shorts. Here’s a look at some additions to my cycling wardrobe for the Spring season and by wardrobe I mean the one drawer I have to squish everything in too because Matt’s cycling gear takes up the rest of the space! Morvelo Flamingo Kit So before I started cycling I just didn’t understand how Matt could part with so much money on one piece of cycling clothing. I just…

    Cos I bloody love Yorkshire

All eyes were on Yorkshire again last weekend as the Tour de Yorkshire came back for a third time showcasing the very best cyclists and of course the very best county <3 I therefore thought I’d share with you two of my favourite places to go in Yorkshire that I visited the same weekend. A legacy from the Tour de France in 2014, the Tour de Yorkshire is a three day cycling stage race organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the Amaury Sport Organisation who are the brains behind the Tour de France – you might have heard of it…. Last year I had the pleasure of watching the race…

    Blood, sweat and cleats

So after months of avoiding it, I finally found the courage to try cycling with cleats and well, it ended in blood, sweat but no tears…. I’d been avoiding it since Matt bought me pedal cleats and shoes for Christmas but I knew the longer I left it the more nervous I would become.  After a little pep talk from Matt I reminded myself that this was one of my cycling aims for this year so I just had to get it done! It was a beautiful sunny day – perfect for cycling and the excitement of wearing my new Morvelo kit was a good distraction. Matt suggested we cycle around the block…

    Escaping in Sherwood Forest

At the weekend I spent a lovely few days at Sherwood Forest Centre Parcs with some of my best friends from university. It proved to be the ultimate escape from the stresses of work and life with lots of laughter, Prosecco and sunshine. Here’s a little peek at what we got up to… We stayed in a 4 person woodlands lodge which came with two bedrooms (1 x double, 1 x twin), lounge/diner, kitchen and bathroom with an additional separate toilet. There was plenty of space! The lounge looked out on to a patio equipped with BBQ and we had some guest appearances (sometimes unwanted) from the local wildlife. The squirrels were pretty…

    Women’s Cycling Accessories Haul

Christmas and the days of doing nothing but watching Harry Potter films, drinking red wine and eating lots of brie sadly feel like a lifetime ago but I wanted to share with you some presents I got in a cycling themed stocking from Matt. I can still get away with talking about Christmas late January right…? I’m just going to pretend I can!  I didn’t want to go digging around for prices because I thought that was a bit rude when they were Christmas presents so I’ve linked you to a general website for each item or if you google the names and brands I’m sure they’ll come up 🙂  Women’s…

    Cycling : 2016 Progress & 2017 Goals

My previous two posts have been reflective celebrating my first year blogging (woohoo) and my changing attitude towards the gym in 2016. So I thought why not make it a hat-rick ey – and look back on my first year of cycling where I have gone from literally screaming on the roads to riding my first 50 miler.  Oh how I’ve changed… Now I think it’s pretty obvious to you all (or at least I hope) that I am no serious cyclist – I mean my blog is called pedal and pout for goodness sake and I still cycle in my trainers (oh hey spot the newbie) but this year…

Pedal and Pout – 1 Year Blogiversary

So today marks exactly a year since I posted my very first blog post here on pedal and pout (YAY). To celebrate this personal little milestone I thought it would be nice to share with you my thoughts and reflections from blogging in the past year. Why I started this blog… So after years of deliberating whether to start a blog or not I finally plucked up the courage late last year. I’d never been able to decide what I wanted my blog to focus on so when I got  a very lovely bike for Christmas from Matt I thought a blog would be the best way to document this new…

    My first 50 miles

Last weekend me and Matt went on a group social ride with our fellow cycling mad friends Isobel and Christopher who I like to refer too as #teamcycling obvs. I covered my longest distance yet WOOHOO so I thought I’d mark the occasion and celebrate cycling my first 50 miles by telling you all a little bit about it 🙂 We set off early in the morning as I had to run an errand for work on the way so we were out of the house for 7am and we definitely saw some people just on their way home from a night out (mannn I felt old). Matt set the…

    A day in the Dales

Both Matt and I had the week off last week and with a new car we thought we’d take advantage of the rare glorious weather and venture further afield than Ilkley with a trip to Burnsall, North Yorkshire in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. My idea was to have a leisurely stroll and take in the stunning scenery, Matt’s idea however was for me to get some much needed practice in and “get a bloody move on”. After I threw a bit of a strop a 1/4 of a way in I like to think we met a mutual understanding at the tea shop – right Matt? The ride was shorter…
