    My summer 2018 highlights

With the first week of September in full swing and the early signs of autumn appearing on the trees I thought now would be a good time to share with you my highlights from the summer – before I get too distracted buying jumpers and boots on ASOS!   Interrailing… It feels like so long ago now but in June at the start of summer, Matt and I spent two weeks on an interrailing adventure exploring Denmark, Germany, Italy, France and Spain. It was a busy two weeks full of adventure exploring new places and revisiting favourites and we had the best time. I can’t wait to print the photos out…

20 things that brought me joy in August

Oh I’ve missed these posts! I started them back in January after being inspired by Sophie Cliff’s ‘finding the joy in everyday’ project and I thought now would be a good time to bring them back. August started without many plans but turned into a pretty lovely month. Here are 20 things that brought me joy! 1. Taking our little goddaughter to the park and seeing her cheeky smile when on the swings. 2. Catching up with old workmates. 3. Watching St Vincent at the Leeds 02 – it was a pretty amazing set. 4. The new season of Suits – I wish I had Donna’s wardrobe. 5. Homemade curry…

A mini break in the Lake District

Last month, Matt and I spent two nights in the Lake District staying at the Quiet Site in one of their hobbit holes. Yes you heard me correctly, a hobbit hole and it was pretty damn cool so I thought I would share with you what we got up too! Where we stayed… The Quiet Site is located in Ullswater with beautiful views of the valley and as the name suggests is a really tranquil and relaxing area. It was definitely a welcome change of pace compared to our inter-railing adventure the previous month and was exactly what we needed to recharge. There are several options for accommodation on the…

Why Montenegro should be on your travel bucket list

Last October (yep this has been sat in my drafts for a while) Matt and I spent a wonderful week exploring Montenegro with two visits to Croatia and a drive through Albania & Bosnia-Herzegovina (we did a lot in 7 days). After the most expensive year ever (buying a house) we wanted a cheap European get away somewhere warmer and sunnier than England. Croatia had been on our list for a few years and been in our minds most recently thanks to spending months binge watching Game of Thrones. However after some research online and thanks to recommendations from friends we found a deal for 7 nights in a 5…

    2018 so far

Well hello there! It’s been a while hasn’t it? The last time I properly blogged was February so I thought it was about time for a little catch up to tell you what I’ve been up too as 2018 has been pretty damn good so far! I got a new job…. My goal for 2018 was to get a new job and in April of this year I ticked that achievement off the list! After 3 and a half years it was time for me to move on. As much as I absolutely loved the people I worked with, I got to the point where I knew exactly what I…

    Welcome to terrace53

Well hi there, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Welcome to the all new terrace53 – an interiors, lifestyle and travel blog. It’s been on my mind for a good few months to take the leap and move on from pedalandpout with a new name, new domain and new layout but if I’m honest I had lost all interest in anything blog related for a while, kept on changing my mind and well, time just seemed to run away with me! It wasn’t until a few weeks ago when I was at home lying on the sofa watching Suits that I just decided quite randomly there and then to…

20 things that brought me joy in February

So apparently it’s now March? Not that you’d think it after the freezing cold and snow the past few days! I’m writing this on a Sunday evening and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve been in pyjama bottoms, a hoodie & my unicorn slippers allllll day. The snow has definitely scuppered plans but a weekend where we have been forced to be in the house has ended up being a welcome opportunity for a clear out which has left me feeling much more organised. I am however 100% ready for sun, spring & daffodils and excited for my birthday month… I really enjoyed writing last month’s 20 things that brought…

20 things that brought me joy in January

Well hello lovelies, Happy February! I’m writing this on the evening of February 1st and getting distracted by ASOS (oops)  – this gal was very happy it was pay day this week. We got through January – yussss! It’s a difficult month – it’s cold and dark, the fun festivities are over and its a long wait until payday. To help get through the month I kept a list of things which brought me joy inspired by the wonderful Sophie Cliff and her #findingthejoyinjanuary hashtag. Seeing my beautiful baby goddaughter – no other human makes me smile so much. A spontaneous date night – resulting in a tipsy bus…

Health & Fitness Goals : December

Yussss it’s December – FINALLY! I’ve been ready for Christmas since the beginning of November so I am very happy we are only three weeks away (even though I still pretty much have all my Christmas shopping to do, oops). This obviously is my final monthly instalment of my health & fitness goals for the year and I think at some point this month I’m going to take the time to read all my past posts to see how things have changed as there’s definitely been phases of confidence & motivation and phases of ‘nah mate not b othered’. Whilst I’ve not enjoyed writing these posts or even blogging in…
