I think other than the kitchen , our bedroom is the room I am most excited to see transformed. We hadn’t touched it since moving in as we prioritised decorating downstairs and other than purchasing the furniture – the Hoxton range from Next we hadn’t done much else. The walls were pretty boring with bare magnolia, it often resembled a floordrobe and lacked any of our personality. As we have been forced into redecorating earlier than planned we are using the opportunity to transform it into a relaxing and decluttered space and so I thought I’d share with you what we have in mind…..
Colour wise we have gone quite bold (for us anyways) and added some colour – slowly shying away from the grey & white we are known for amongst friends haha. Our feature wall is (in my opinion) the most gorgeous shade of green – Woodland Fern 1 by Dulux which creates an instant feeling of cosiness and adds warmth and depth to what is quite a large bedroom.
We’re lucky to have a room large enough to fit a king size bed in alongside a dressing table, built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables – so there’s plenty of room. Luckily all our wooden furniture can be saved and is just a case of a deep clean which I am very thankful for! As I’ve mentioned we are going for pink and golds against the green and so we have bought the avenue bed frame from DFS in pink. We are however losing storage as our old bed had drawers where we kept our cycling and gym gear so Matt’s come with up an idea he’s very excited about….
I can’t take credit for the next thing we have planned as this is 100% Matt’s idea but I am looking forward to seeing it come to life. The plan is to have one picture rail and one shelf going along the full length of the wall opposite the window. The picture rail will be home to various pieces including treasured photos, artwork and gig posters, then the shelf will house books, plants and pretty storage boxes (to hide our random bits & bobs).
We have ordered a grey carpet which will run throughout the house and have decided to contrast the green wall with blush pink & gold – my new favourite colour crush. I’m hoping to display some of our photobooth and polaroid photos in gold frames, use these gorgeous lamps for our bedside tables and buy this statement lampshade along with some wicker laundry baskets and pink pom pom cushions. Taking inspiration from this lovely bunch….
So that’s the plan….fingers crossed it all goes to plan and I can’t wait to reveal all when it’s finished!
