My summer 2018 highlights

With the first week of September in full swing and the early signs of autumn appearing on the trees I thought now would be a good time to share with you my highlights from the summer – before I get too distracted buying jumpers and boots on ASOS!

  Interrailing…

It feels like so long ago now but in June at the start of summer, Matt and I spent two weeks on an interrailing adventure exploring Denmark, Germany, Italy, France and Spain. It was a busy two weeks full of adventure exploring new places and revisiting favourites and we had the best time. I can’t wait to print the photos out and make an album to look back on the memories.

Gigs…

One thing I wanted to do in 2018 was go to more gigs but I’m always terrible at booking tickets on time – luckily Matt is all over it and I did pretty well this summer seeing Taylor Swift, Little Mix and The Killers. As much as I love Taylor and Little Mix seeing The Killers took me back to my teenage years and when Mr Brightside came on I was in my absolute element.

The Great Outdoors…

The beautiful weather this summer allowed us to spend more time outdoors whether that was eating a picnic in the local park with friends, taking long walks at our favourite places in the Dales, drinks in the beer garden or weekends away making the most of the UK in the Lake District and Sherwood Forest. The sunny weather and lighter evenings instantly made me feel calmer and relaxed and made me realise just how lucky we are with where we live.

Celebrating one year in the house…

This summer marked one year since we became home owners and the first summer in about 8 years where we didn’t have to move! We’re slowly getting there (the list of jobs just keeps on getting longer and longer) but I love spending time with Matt whether we are just pottering in the house, grabbing a coffee and a slice of cake from our favourite local cafe or outside in the garden trying to sort it out!

Paris…

Because you’re never too old to visit Disney right? Last weekend I spent a fun girly weekend away spending a day in Paris exploring the city in the sunshine and another day in Disney being the biggest kid  – I practically skipped into the park. It was the perfect way to end the summer and I can’t wait to tell you more about it in a future post!

I hope you had an amazing summer! Are you going to miss summer or are you all set for autumnal evenings?
