20 things that brought me joy in January

Well hello lovelies, Happy February! I’m writing this on the evening of February 1st and getting distracted by ASOS (oops)  – this gal was very happy it was pay day this week. We got through January – yussss! It’s a difficult month – it’s cold and dark, the fun festivities are over and its a long wait until payday. To help get through the month I kept a list of things which brought me joy inspired by the wonderful Sophie Cliff and her #findingthejoyinjanuary hashtag.

  1. Seeing my beautiful baby goddaughter – no other human makes me smile so much.
  2. A spontaneous date night – resulting in a tipsy bus journey home.
  3. Experimenting with new recipes – I highly recommend Vegan 100 by Gaz Oakley.
  4. Spending time with the girls planning our friend’s hen do – not that we need any more encouragement for a gossip and wine.
  5. Meatballs & mash at Ikea – this was definitely before we thought about going vegan.
  6. A week of no plans after work – I spent it snuggled up on the sofa watching Netflix.
  7. Friends on Netflix – about bloody time!
  8. Guilt free shopping in Oliver Bonas – putting that Christmas gift voucher to good use.
  9. Seeing in the new year with Prosecco Pong – some of us handled it better than others.
  10. Cycling for the first time in months – it felt so good to be back on my bike.
  11. A girly catch up with my friend Phoebe – over 2 4 1 cocktails.
  12. Decorating an event I was managing at work  – I love it when I get to be creative.
  13. Visiting a new coffee shop in Leeds and enjoying some peace & quiet – perks of being early for an appointment.
  14. Exploring the beautiful city of Chester – it was a beautiful sunny cold day.
  15. Walking into the coffee shop at work and Spice Girls playing – spice up your life.
  16. Watching BBC’s Mc’Mafia – because who doesn’t have a crush on James Norton?
  17. Visiting Sheffield – my home from home.
  18. Celebrating my friend’s birthday – it was a very fun night.
  19. When Matt made blueberry & banana vegan pancakes – they were delicious.
  20. People watching & sitting outside in the sun at lunchtime – so nice to get away from my desk.

I’ve only written one of these types of posts once before   but if you’d like to read more let me know in the comments below and I can highly recommend Sophie Cliff & Kirsty at the Monday Project     for weekly doses of happiness. Have a wonderful February!
