Post Ride Pamper – Hair Care

Over the past few months I’ve shared with you my favourite products to use for both my face and body in a post ride pamper. This week I thought I’d complete the series and focus on hair care….

When my hair has been in a messy ponytail squashed under a helmet its safe to say it truly showcases helmet hair and knots galore. My favourite hairbrush to use is the Aqua Splash by Tangle Teezer. It doesn’t look like your usual hairbrush but it glides through my hair perfectly, doesn’t hurt at all and leaves my hair feeling incredibly smooth.

If I know I’m not going to be exercising for the following day or two I like to use the extraordinary clay shampoo & conditioner pair from L’oreal Elvive Paris. The re-balancing duo are aimed at those with oily roots and dry ends which after past dip dye and bleaching sums up my hair type perfectly. I have to admit I was quite sceptical when I first heard of it but I decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised! I usually wash my hair every two days but when I use this shampoo my hair can last an extra day and all I need is a little spritz of Batiste dry shampoo in either original or my favourite – cherry.

hair005I mix up my shampoo and conditioner probably every two months and base my purchases on how my hair looks and feels and when it was last cut/coloured. Other favourites include the Moroccan Argan Oil set from OGX, Miracle Moist Shampoo by Aussie and Repair & Protect from Pantene.

As someone who used to straighten their hair every day as a teenager I got into a good routine of always using heat protection spray and so I do this every time before I use a hairdryer or straighteners. I’ve tried different ones over the past few years but I’ve repurchased the Styling Blow Dry Mist by Trevor Sorbie quite a few times now and you can  often get it on offer at Boots. If I remember (and I clearly haven’t as I have had the same bottle for ages) I also like to spritz some Keratin Oil from OGX to help protect my hair from brushing and styling.

I’m on the look out for a good hair mask to use weekly so give me a shout if you have any recommendations!

Okay as someone who has grown long(ish) hair for the first time, I’m in desperate need of as many post-exercise hair handling tips as possible so thanks! 😉 Are there any pre and posr ride secrets to reducing or just dealing with that sweaty mess? Or do I just have to suck it up and wash it every time? It’s certainly not as low maintenance as the trusty number 4-blade all over! Haha!
