Le Tour de Yorkshire

Le Tour de Yorkshire returned to the great county last weekend for the second time showcasing not only exciting road cycling but the beautiful Yorkshire scenery and of course our ever changing weather!

The race which began last year as a legacy to follow on from the highly successful Tour de France in 2014 was spread over 3 days and followed routes from Beverley – Settle, Otley – Doncaster and Middlesborough – Scarborough equating to 519km. 18 men’s teams were represented including British favourites Team Sky and Team Wiggins alongside international Orica GreenEdge and Madison Genesis. Whilst 8 women’s teams competed including Team Breeze, Wiggle High 5 and Team Ford Eco Boost. This year was extremely significant for the women as the prize fund of £50,000 made it the most lucrative women’s cycling race in the world – hopefully many other races will follow suit!

I was lucky enough to watch the race from my friend’s beautifully decorated and bunting filled garden in Otley along with some Prosecco. That’s how every cycling race should be watched in my opinion 😉

Here are some photos from a fantastic day 🙂

  1. Ooooh, okay you’re making me want to go and watch cycling in person SO badly now! I’ve always dreamt of following the Tour de France round, seems like such a fun idea and a great way to see parts of France I wouldn’t otherwise! Xx
